Mitchell S. Witmer
Mitchell S. Witmer, 22, of Lancaster, passed peacefully into the waiting arms of his Savior on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family. The son of Kevin and Sharon (Burkholder) Adams and the late Robert Witmer, he was born on July 17, 1992.
Mitch was a graduate of Lampeter Strasburg High School and persevered thru his illness to graduate from Millersville University in May of this year. He was excited to begin his new job at Clark Associates after graduation. Mitch was a loyal son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was also a loyal and avid sports fan who especially enjoyed following the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a computer whiz who was always ready and willing to help family and friends with his knowledge of technology. He was known and loved for his dry sense of humor, witty comments and for always being true to himself.
Most importantly, Mitch will be remembered for his love and faithfulness to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He battled his illness with great courage and strength and without complaint or bitterness for the suffering he endured. He grew into a true spiritual warrior who prayed earnestly for others while on his own deathbed. Mitch believed for healing until his last breath, and will leave a legacy of childlike faith thru trial. He loved his family above all earthly things, and they will deeply miss his genuine hugs, loving smiles, and his heartfelt concern for others.
Mitch will be lovingly missed by his mother, step-father Kevin Adams, sisters Jenna(Jeremy) Peifer, and Heather Witmer, brother Deron Witmer, step sisters Collette (Chris) Jakubowicz and Katelyn (Ryan) Eisenhour, step-brother Bryan Adams, neices Shiloh, Eve, Serenity, Natasha and nephew Chas, and by his grandparents, A. Clyde Witmer, Melvin W. and Emma Burkholder, E. L. Adams and Eva Myers.
A Service celebrating Mitchell’s life will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, PA. A Visitation will be held at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be no visitation on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mitch’s memory may be made to A Week Away Foundation at
