Mary E. Trimble, 95, of Willow Street, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Quarryville Presbyterian Home.
She was the wife of the late Charles H. Trimble who died in 1972. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Catharine Ault Mummart.
Mary was a 1938 graduate of Manheim Township High School and then went on to graduate from Frankford Hospital of Philadelphia Nursing School as an R.N. She was employed as a visiting nurse for many years in Lancaster County.
Mary was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster. She was a member of the Willow Street Women’s Club, the Silver Threads, Millersville Lioness Club, American Legion Auxiliary of Mt Joy Post 185, the Willow Street Auxiliary of Lancaster General Hospital and the American Business Women. Mary had volunteered at the Susquehanna Association for the Blind for 25 years and at Lancaster General Hospital and Grace Lutheran Church for many years. In 2008, Mary received the Citizen of the Year award from the Willow Street Lions Club and in 1998 the Ralph A. Taylor Fellowship Award from the Club. Mary was an avid lifelong Phillies fan.
Surviving is a step son Henry E. Trimble of Lancaster; two step grandsons Mickey and David Trimble; and 5 step great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 1:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in Machpelah Cemetery, Lititz, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Susquehanna Association for the Blind, 244 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the Memorial Fund at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
