Thelma M. Ingram
Thelma M. Ingram, 96, of Lancaster, passed into heaven peacefully at Masonic Homes Rehabilitation Center on May 8, 2019.
She was the widow of the late Herbert R. Ingram. She was preceded in death by her brothers Sonny and Jim and sisters Gertrude ,Beverly, Janey and her beloved daughter Cheryl M. Mellott.
She is survived by her loving family: Son Herbert R Ingram II (Robin) grandsons Cameron R. Ingram and Connor R Ingram, Granddaughters Kristy Hirtzel (Gregory) and Kelly Bode.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Eden, Madeline Rose, Erin and Luke Hirtzel; Meghan & Brandon Bode, and well as nieces and nephews who always called her ”Aunt Dean.”
Mom loved “good” hot coffee (two creams!), babysitting children, poetry, biographies of the old movie stars, cream-filled chocolates from downtown and corn on the cob. But more than anything, she loved being with her family and spoke of them often with pride and joy to anyone who would listen. Her love of reading carried on to her son, with fond memories of a rocking chair, a mother’s tickles and hearing The Teeny, Tiny Woman.
She enjoyed talking about her life and we all will miss her telling those same stories repeatedly. No one was immune from the stories! If you were visiting or attending to her, she would share at least one with you with details like it was yesterday.
She attended Ross Street United Methodist church but more recently was ministered to by Pastor Kent Bailey of Compassionate Care Hospice. She loved the Lord and shared her story of seeing Heaven and all its colors that don’t exist here on earth.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Evergreen Estates assisted living and Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Abby who Mom adored. Your care gave us more time with her, and for that we are immensely grateful!
A memorial service will be held on May 17th, 2019 at 11:00 am at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Cremaory, 141 East Orange Street, Lancaster, Pa.
