‘Jackie’ Immel, 80 of Columbia passed away Wednesday April 06, 2016. Jackie was born at her grandmother’s house in Quarryville on January 10, 1936 to the late George and Flora Smoker and was raised in Lancaster. Jackie was preceded in death by husband Raymond B. Immel of Cochranville in December of 1981. She was also preceded in death by 3-year-old brother George Smoker and sister Anna wife of William Schalk of Annville. She is survived by sister Elizabeth ‘Liz’ wife of Denis Hildebrand of Willow Street. She is also survived by sons, Rodney D. married to Carol Schaum of Mount Joy, Jeffrey M. married to Joan Schaum of Columbia, Craig D. married to Angela Schaum of Lancaster and daughter Michelle L. Immel of Lancaster. She is also survived by grandchildren; Josie, Jason, Grace, Adam, Jennifer, Thomas, Amanda, Peter, Alison and great grandchildren Austyn, Aiden, and Logan. Jackie also had 2 step children Carolyn Sauders of Lebanon and James Immel of Atglen and 6 step grandchildren. Jackie started working at Specialty Screw and Machine in Lancaster at age 16 and worked there on and off for almost 50 years. She found her most pleasure spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Jackie was an excellent cook and mostly loved to entertain through events with food. To many who knew Jackie, her shoe fly pie was the very best anywhere. Jackie has made many good friends through her life and will be greatly missed but not forgotten by family and all who loved her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 745 Old Chickies Hill Rd, Columbia, PA 17512 at 3:00 PM. A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be Monday, April 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at. Cochranville Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society through a local Relay for Life Team or to the American Diabetes Association.
