In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three sons, their wives and their children: William Coke Tuggle and Donath Patterson Tuggle of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; F. Folger Tuggle, Elizabeth Julian Tuggle and Isabelle Jun-Ji Tuggle of Norwich, Vermont; and Mark Preston Tuggle, Nicole Pepin Tuggle, Preston Alexander Tuggle and Spencer William Tuggle of Western Springs, Illinois. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Carolina (UNC) in 1954, she taught third grade in her home town of High Point, North Carolina. When her husband returned to UNC for graduate studies in 1958, she supported the family by teaching nursery school in Chapel Hill.
The abiding interest and great pleasure in her life were her family and her friends. She especially enjoyed celebrating the Christmas season by baking 20-plus kinds of cookies as gifts, accompanied by a different, handmade Christmas tree ornament each year.
In addition to raising their three sons while her husband was climbing the corporate ladder, she was a 50-plus year member of the church choir, an accomplished pianist, and a talented and dedicated quilter, artist (oils), knitter, needle pointer, and seamstress. She volunteered on numerous church committees as well as serving as a member of the Bernardsville N.J. Board of Health and on the board of the Somerset Hills (New Jersey) Visiting Nurse Association.
