Ann M. Krissinger

Ann M. Krissinger, 86, of Lancaster, PA died on April 16, 2019.  She was married to Dr. Robert C. Krissinger for the past 61 years.  She was born on April 20, 1932 in Greensburg, PA to J. Edward and Sybilla S. Mitinger.

Ann graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.  She went on to teach history and social studies at Lower Merion Junior High School in Ardmore, PA.

After their marriage in 1957, Ann and Bob lived for 3 years in France and Germany, as Bob was serving a tour of duty as a Captain in the United States Air Force.  After returning to the United States, they settled in Grandview Heights, Lancaster, PA to open Dr. Krissinger’s medical practice and raise a family.

For the next 58 years Ann was extremely active in the Lancaster Community.  She served as a long-time member of the Manheim Township Zoning Hearing Board and the Water and Sewer Authority with an undying passion for retaining the natural beauty of Lancaster County.  As a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Ann took on a number of leadership roles as an Elder and Chair of the Board of Deacons.

Ann was also active as a tutor for the Lancaster Literacy Council, supporting both youth in local elementary schools and adults seeking to expand their horizons. To her, literacy is not a skill but a social imperative.  She was a board member and secretary of the Visiting Nurses’ Association, a Chair of Town Fair and a member of the Board of the Historic Preservation Trust.

She also contributed her time in various capacities to the YWCA, Planned Parenthood, The United Way, Meals-on-Wheels, Citizens for Responsible Growth and the Hour Glass Foundation.

Ann is remembered by her loving husband Bob, sister Jean (and Claude) Anderson and brother Ned (and Rujean) Mitinger.  Her sister Mary Watt pre-deceased her.  Her legacy will live on through her three children:  John R. Krissinger (Sheri) of Macungie; PA, Susan K. Trinchere (John) of Salem, VA; and Richard A. Krissinger (Laurie Cochran) of Elmhurst, IL.  Ann and Bob also have 9 caring grandchildren:  Liz, Nick, Katie, Emma, Lexie, Sandy, Bob, Sara and Wesley.

For all of her children, she steadfastly helped them build solid roots and gracefully granted them wings – one of her guiding creeds.
