Anna A. Young
Anna Arlene (Billig) Young Age 96, of Willow Valley, PA, died of complications from a stroke, at home in Arbor View on September 14, 2016.
Ann grew up in Berwick PA and graduated from Berwick High School in 1938. She married Warren E. (Coonie) Young in 1947 in Berwick PA and eventually moved to Wilmington DE, where she was a homemaker for many years. Always hoping to return to Pennsylvania, Ann and Coonie moved to Willow Valley in the early 1990s.
Ann loved her family, gardening, crossword puzzles, pinochle, road trips and the Phillies. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Coonie, of 63 years, her parents Effie and Joe Billig, mother-in-law Carrie Ida (Hofnagle) Young, sister Fay Billig McMurtrie Whitmire (Wilber McMurtrie and Zane Whitmire), brother Robert P. Billig and sister-in-law Ruth (Don) Boyer.
Survivors are son Rex O. Young (Carole), daughter Molly Y. Mauro (Chris), four grandchildren Erin Jellesma (Shawn), Dana Irons (Josh), Nick Mauro (Stephanie), Josh Mauro, four great grandchildren Reid, Harrison, Liam & Torin and sister-in-law Betty Billig plus nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff of Lancaster General and especially Willow Valley and Arbor View for their superb, compassionate care for the past decades.
