Annamary Louise Smith

Annamary Louise Smith died Friday, January 30, 2015 at Luther Acres in Lititz.

A lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster, she served there in many capacities. She was also active in many roles in Luther League at the local, synodical, and national levels, as well as the Lutheran Historical Society and other faith-based organizations.

Born in Lancaster, she graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School and the New York School of Interior Design.

She retired from Franklin and Marshall College where she had served as an administrative assistant.  Earlier, she had been a secretary at Christ Lutheran Church.

She took particular pleasure in music, history, and helping others and was active in a number of community organizations, among them, Girl Scouts, the YWCA, the American Heart Organization and the American Cancer Society.

Annamary was preceded in death by her parents Walter Emmanuel Smith and Lilian (Beaner) Smith, as well as her brother Walter “Elvin” Smith and her sisters Lilian Smith, Sarah Rupp, Helen Wolf, Dorothea Gamber and Grace Harlacher.  She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their descendants.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in Grace Lutheran Church, corner of N. Queen and W. James Streets, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.  with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating.   The family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Miss Smith’s memory may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA   17603, or the charity of one’s choice.
