Mary Anne Rudisill Graybill of Homestead Village, Lancaster, PA, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. She was the wife of Dr. John B. Graybill to whom she was married 71 years. She was born in York, PA, the eldest child of James Jefferson and Mary Little Rudisill. She lived in Barrington, Rhode Island for 38 years, moving to Lancaster in 1982 where she was a member of the board of the Women’s Symphony Association, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, Wheatland Foundation, the Lancaster Boys and Girls Club Foundation, Colonial Dames and DAC. She belonged to Chapter K PEO. She was also a former member of the Lancaster Country Club where she was instrumental in starting the Sunset Ladies’ Group and the Hamilton Club where she bowled with the Ladies Group.
While in Barrington, she was a member of the Rhode Island Country Club, Bristol Chapter DAR, volunteer for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Barrington Presbyterian Church, of which her husband was the first pastor. In her New England years she taught piano, having studied at Wheaton College Conservatory of Music and the St. Louis Conservatory of Music.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, Liza Graybill; three granddaughters, Abby, Hanna and Naomi Bliss; a sister, Mrs. Eugene Martin (Sally) and a brother, William Little Rudisill. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Lease and a brother, Henry Bittinger Rudisill.
Her declining years were brightened with care by her niece Mrs. James Farrel (Susie) and her “almost daughter” Mrs. Bruce Quickel (Judy).
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral from Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Rd., Lancaster, PA on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to service time. If desired, contributions in Anne’s memory may be sent to Lancaster Boys and Girls Club Foundation, P.O. Box 104, Lancaster, PA 17608. Private interment will be held at Conestoga Memorial Park.
