Arthur Donald Freiberg, 69, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was married 45 years to Joan E. Groff Freiberg. Born March 22, 1941 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Theresa MacNeal Freiberg.
Donald retired from Pennfield Feeds in 2006 and then in retirement enjoyed driving school bus in the Hempfield School District. He was a 1959 graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and photography. He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #43.
Surviving besides his wife are seven sons, Douglas Freiberg and Bradley Freiberg, both of Landisville, Jeffrey Freiberg of Lancaster, Matthew husband of Misti Freiberg of Macon, GA, Zachary Freiberg of Landisville, Gregory husband of Catherine Freiberg of Conestoga, and Timothy Freiberg of Lancaster; two daughters, Kristin Freiberg of Lancaster, and Adriene wife of Dennis Oatman, Jr. of Columbia; five grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald husband of Mary Jane Freiberg of Lancaster, and David husband of Barbara Freiberg of Wrightsville; and one sister, Darlene Freiberg of Lititz.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be no viewing at the church on Friday prior to the service. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Freiberg’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at Grace Lutheran Church, 527 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the S. June Smith Center, 600 Eden Road, Building #1, Lancaster, PA 17601.
