Known to all as Pete, Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Uncle.
Pete passed away peacefully to Glory to be with his Lord and Savior after fighting a courageous battle Sunday, May 28th at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, the son of the late Arthur (Grace) Skaggs, Sr. Devoted husband of Donna Wayde whom he was married to for 39 years.
Pete attended McCaskey High School and then proudly served in the United States Navy. Following this time in the Navy, Pete drove a truck for many years as an owner operator. After growing weary from driving a truck, he retired from J&L Building Materials as a sales manager in Landisville PA.
Pete’s many interests included being an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, playing cards, bowling in leagues with his in-laws, riding his Harley Davidson and going to Bike Week at different events, hunting and fishing. In which not long ago he was able to go and spend time with his brother Larry. Pete, also loved camping in his RV and sitting by the fire with his beloved wife, Donna.
He enjoyed cooking very much and his family and friends really enjoyed his chili, baked beans and pineapple cake. His greatest loves of his life were his daughters, April (Jose), Jennifer (fiance Jason) and grandchildren , Julianna, Isaiah and Jordan and many nieces and nephews , too many to mention. They ALL had a special place in his heart.
Arthur’s siblings are Rose Mendez, Sharon Heinley, Bev (Victor) Rodriquez, Larry (Tess) Skaggs, Melissa Skaggs and step-brother Robert Nace. He was preceded in death by Rodney Skaggs, Barry Skaggs and Nancy Osborne.
Pete’s resting place will be at Conestoga Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden and Circle of Love with military honors, with Pastor Jeff Gessey and Pastor Victor Rodriquez officiating on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 1 pm.
