Augusta S. Madenford

Augusta S. Madenford, 98, of Lancaster, passed away on August 6, 2024 at Luther Acres. She was the loving wife of the late Edward K. Madenford who preceded her in death in 2015.

Born in Pottsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Augusta (Schulze) Staudt.

After graduating from high school, Augusta received her associates degree from Pierce Business College and spent much of professional in the banking industry specifically in the Auditing Department 

Augusta was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster as well as a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL where she taught Sunday School for 25 years. 

In her spare time, she enjoyed being married to and spending time with her late husband, Edward, playing bridge with friends, playing golf, spending winters in Florida and spending time with her family, especially with her grandsons.

In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at Luther Acres. She prided herself on being a “coal cracker” from Pottsville, PA and enjoyed her Yuengling beer. 

She was a former member of Conestoga Country Club and St. Petersburg, FL Country Club. 

Augusta is survived by one daughter, Jerri M. Crooms of Pinehurst, NC, and one son, Edward H. Madenford (husband of Deborah) of Millsboro, DE. Also surviving are two grandsons, Jonathan and Carson Crooms. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at the chapel at Luther Acres, 400 St. Luke Dr., Lititz, PA 17543 on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in Friedensburg, PA at a later date. ln lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to: Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N.
