Barbara Friedman

Barbara Friedman, at the age of 85, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord on Sunday, July 16th 2023.

Barbara was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 26, 1937 to the late Mary and Walter Harris.  She was the loving wife of the late Edward Friedman who preceded her to heaven on May 7, 2019 and they have enjoyed the privilege of raising four wonderful children together:   Jamie Friedman of Gouvieux France, husband of Murielle Vernaud-Friedman; Pastor Randy Friedman of Chester PA, husband of Pam Friedman; Lisa Friedman of London UK, fiancé to John Ambler; and Lori Friedman-Choi of Falls church VA, wife of Samuel Choi. French foster daughter, Silvana Cureton of Pratsville, Alabama wife of Ray Cureton; unofficially “adopted” David and Mary Harrop of Lancaster Pa.

Grandmother to Joyanna and husband Evan Bass, Naomi and husband Paul Smith, Michael Friedman, Amanda and husband Brian Latshaw, Jennifer and husband Daniel Smallwood, and Joshua and wife Lori Friedman, Chad and Carrie Cureton, Kate and Lizzie Harrop.

Great-grandmother to Josiah and Lydia Latshaw, Logan Friedman and Leif Jacob Smith.

Dog “mom” to her faithful companion Beau Garçon better known as Beau-Beau.

Although Barb and Ed attended the same Sunday school and elementary schools, they didn’t know each other until they met on a blind date (arranged by the Lord) and were married a year later.  Barb studied at Columbia Bible College and later at Cairn University receiving a Master’s in counseling.  After having two little boys, the Lord called them to Paris France as missionaries with TEAM, The Evangelical Alliance Mission, where they ministered and called home for 37 years.  After helping with five church plants the mission encouraged them to start counseling TEAM missionaries around the world. They eventually helped the TEAM counseling department create the Timothy Network, a group who finds Care Givers/Pastors to minister to missionaries for all of TEAM fields.

Barb and Ed moved to Calvary Fellowship Homes in 2005 and continued their ministry until 2013 when Ed had health issues and retired. After Ed went to be with the Lord, Barb got involved in women’s ministries, comfort care, volunteered at the thrift shop and formed many meaningful friendships at Calvary.  She has also been an active member at Calvary Bible Church, involved in woman’s Bible study and the Overcomers ABF class. Barbara is well known and loved by many.

A memorial service to celebrate Barb’s life and entry into Heaven is scheduled to take place at Calvary Fellowship Homes,

502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA

Saturday, July 29th.

Greeting the family will begin

at 12:30

follow by the service at 1pm with a time of refreshments and fellowship

at 2:00

All are welcome to the interment held at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 County Line Rd, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053 On Friday, July 28th, 2023 starting at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jacques Vernaud Foundation.
