Lancaster

Beth Ann (Sutherland) Terry, 83, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024. Born in Ohio, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, David Terry, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. James Sutherland, her brother, James Sutherland (married to Aprilly Frederick) and her brother-in-law, Thomas Merlino.

Beth is survived by her sister, Nancie Merlino, son Stephen (married to Wendy Lutz), daughter Mindy (married to Josh Witmer), 5 grandchildren: Lindsay (married to Yamil Perez), Dylan and Morgan Terry, Phoebe and Emma Witmer and many sweet nieces and nephews.

Beth was an avid baseball fan. She went to baseball games as a young girl with her father who taught her to keep score. She loved following the Phillies and enjoyed going to spring training in Florida and attending Phillies Phantasy camp as a spectator where she watched her son and husband play ball.

She graduated from Abington High School and Allegheny College where she majored in Secretarial Studies and Spanish. Beth held various secretarial positions and later spent much of her time volunteering. She delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Phoenixville Library. She was an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization and Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni organization. She enjoyed planting beautiful gardens, making clothing for her children and grandchildren, putting puzzles together, reading, cross stitching and doing crossword puzzles.

Beth (G-mom) will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren. She babysat them when they were little, was a tireless playmate, hosted sleepovers, took them to many theater performances and on countless local adventures in Lancaster and Philadelphia. She shared her love of travel with her family. When each grandchild turned 12, she took them on an intergenerational trip to an experience of their choice. She spent hours making scrap books for each of the grandchildren depicting 16 years of adventures together.

Beth was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. She was part of a quilting group where she made and donated many quilts to support various ministries. She enjoyed making quilts to gift to family members who were getting married, graduating or having children.

The family would like to thank the kind and attentive staff at Trillium, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital and Hospice and Community Care for the excellent care they provided her.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Susan G. Komen - P.O. Box 801889, Dallas, TX 75380 (her name in the memo line) or a charity of your choice.
