Betty Jane (Werner) Aston, 89, died October 25, 2010. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Werner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Aston. Bets will be lovingly missed by her daughters, Cynthia, wife of Elbert P. Moyer, Jr. and Suzanne, wife of George W. Swanger as well as her grandsons, Ian and Shane Swanger. Also surviving are a brother, Harold Werner, and a sister, Arlene Holbein. Betty graduated from West Lampeter High School in 1939. She was a stenographer for Paul A. Mueller, Esq., was a secretary at Stehli Silk Mills, Lancaster, co-owner of Aston’s Variety Store in Willow Street, a buyer for Herr & Co., Lancaster and worked at Willow Street Pharmacy. She was a member of Farm Women #22 and Eastern Star #501, Lancaster. She served as Deacon and Elder, was a chairman of the Fellowship Committee and was also a longstanding member of the choir and Shepherd Program at the Willow Street U.C.C. Betty enjoyed bird watching that started at Muddy Run with Bob Schutsky and spent much of her time gardening, pressing flowers and cooking. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at Willow Street U.C.C., 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA on Thursday, October 28th, at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
