Betty L. Myers, 84, of Lancaster, PA, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

She was the wife of the late Nelson K. Myers, Jr. who died in 2012.  Born in Beverly, WV she was the daughter of the late Donald D. and Ella Watson Bennett.

Betty was a homemaker most of her life.  She met her husband while working at the Officers Club at Andrews Air Force Base.  She had also worked part time over the years at the former Hamilton Village Store and the former Ruof’s Flowers.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and had taught Sunday School for over 30 years.  Earlier in life she enjoyed volunteering with the Cub Scouts, Brownies, YWCA and the American Cancer Society.  Her interests included reading and word search puzzles.

Betty was happiest when she was in the company of her family.  She was fiercely devoted to her family and was always there to support them in their endeavors.  Betty was the glue that held her family together.

Surviving are two sons, Donald N. Myers of East Petersburg, and John B. husband of Jacqueline Myers of Lancaster; two daughters, Mary E. wife of Kevin E. Nissly, and Susan L. wife of Tim Garber of Lancaster; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Heather, Brandi, Melissa, Lauren, Ian, Aaron, Gretchen, and Lucas; eight step grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashley, Kim, Todd, Amanda, Allen, Eric and Talia; two great grandchildren, Isabelle and Skyler; four step great grandchildren, Bella, Sophia, Brayden and Addison; and two sisters, Ruby Jones of Coalton, WV and Sue wife of Jack Zirkle of Medina, OH.  She was preceded in death by brothers Harold “Bus”, Lloyd and Jerry Bennett.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.  Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA  17603 or to Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, 3544 Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA  17110-9480.
