Betty M. Cornell was born on November 23, 1921 in Lancaster, PA to her parents Robert G. and Goldena C. Houser. She passed away at the age of 93 on December 14, 2014 in Ft. Myers, FL.
Betty was a resident of Ft. Myers Beach since 1982 and was formerly of Lancaster, PA. She retired from RCA after working there for 42 years.
During WWII Betty served with the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps where she worked in administration. She was honorably discharged in August of 1943 as a Private First Class. Betty enjoyed working at Leani’s, Ft. Myers Beach, FL from 1991 until 2011. She was an avid golfer having scored a hole in one on March 5, 1997 at the Spanish Wells Country Club. In the 1960s she earned a spot on the Meadia Heights Golf Club traveling team comprised of the clubs top golfers competing with other area clubs. Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Spanish Well Country Club, Quill Creek Country Club and the Meadia Heights Golf Club. One of her favorite things to do was to play Bridge at the Ft. Myers Beach Women’s Club and at the Chapel by the Sea.
Betty is survived by her daughter Brenda Parmer Miller husband of Barry Miller, grandchildren Renee Miller Connors wife of Matthew Connors, Ryan Miller, and two great-granddaughters Adelynn and Delaney Connors. Step children Betty Lou Eckman, Sandra Foulk, Linda Cornell. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Parmer 1969, Quentin Cornell 2005, and granddaughter Lea Miller Eshleman 2003.
A Funeral Service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park.
