Carl B. Starr, 86, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Mennonite Home. He was the loving husband of Doris J. (Hart) Starr. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Carl B. and Ida (Breneman) Starr. After his formal schooling, Carl proudly served in the US Merchant Marines and the Army Air Corp. He was the general foreman for the construction of the Peach Bottom Nuclear Plants and the Muddy Run Power Station, as well as the general superintendent of the Park City Mall. Toward the end of his career, he co-founded Valco Associates, Inc. with his son William, dedicated to retail store construction and shopping mall renovation. In his spare time, he enjoyed using his carpentry skills to help others and crafting items to be sold by various non-profit organizations. He also loved to hunt and being in the outdoors. Carl was a former member of the Rohrerstown Fire Company and the Rohrerstown Athletic Association. He was also a deacon and elder of Salem United Church of Christ. In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by his son, William Starr (husband of Lisa) of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his sister Jane Hengst and step-brother Charles Morton, Jr. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel of the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Friends may greet the family at the Chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Rohrerstown Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery.
