Carl G. Melin (88) of Lancaster, PA slipped into the arms of his Lord on February 24, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Born in Arlington, MA, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ida Swanson Melin. He was the husband of the late Barbara Cutler Melin who passed away in 2004 after 59 years of marriage.
A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, Carl enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and continued his service in the Naval Reserves until his retirement in 1985.
A 1945 graduate of Tufts University, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. For 37 years he worked for DuPont Industries as an engineer. He began his career in Toledo, and was transferred to Chicago, and Ft Madison, IA.
He lived at Woodcrest Villa, in Lancaster for 19 years and was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. He was actively involved in the music program there, as he was in all of his previous churches. In late 2013 he relocated to Scottsdale, AZ to be nearer to his family.
Surviving are two children; Victoria Melin of Smithville, MO and Eric Melin (Nancy Melin) of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Joshua Melin (Christine Melin) of Chandler, AZ and Amanda Sharpe (Ronnie Sharpe) of Chandler, AZ; one great-granddaughter, Mckenna Sharpe; and one sister, Ethel Adamson of Cromwell, CT. He was predeceased by two brothers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral at Grace Baptist Church, 1899 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on March 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM. The family will greet friends from 9:30 AM. Internment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
