Carl M. Shissler, 83, of Lancaster, PA, entered into rest on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy, while surrounded by his caring family. Carl was the husband of Mary Lou Shissler, his loving wife of 62 years.
Carl enjoyed camping, fishing, crabbing, boating, snowmobiling and just about anything that allowed him to enjoy the great outdoors. He was a long time member of Church of the Apostles U.C.C. in Lancaster, PA. He also enjoyed the many years he spent as a member of the American Legion and the Elks Club of Lancaster.
He was an instructor for the Adult HVAC classes at Willow Street Vo-Tech and was a superintendent in charge of sheet metal for large construction projects in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Carl also served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954.
Besides his wife, Carl is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Sebelist of Lancaster and Susan, wife of Michael Boyles, of Mechanicsville, MD; four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17602 on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Kathryn Kuhn officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1630 Manheim Pike, Suite 8, Lancaster, PA, 17601.
