Carlos Luis Colón Huertas

Carlos Luis Colón Huertas, 76, Resident of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024 at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Hospital alongside his loving family. He was the loving husband of Maria (Martinez Burgos) Colón.

Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Miguel Colón Otero and Maria Herminia Huertas Rodriguez. 

In addition to his wife, Maria, he is survived by three children:his sons Carlos Alberto Colón, & his wife Mara; Eddie Luis Colón & his wife Gloria; his daughter, Crystle Lynn Ortiz & her husband Steve. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Edgar, Paola, Jason, Veronica, Christina, & Edrick. As well as two great granddaughters, Paulette and Paula. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two siblings, Fabian Gonzalez & Iris Medina. And his surviving siblings, Angel Colón, & his wife Carmen; Margarita Colón Huertas & her husband José;Migdalia Sánchez & her husband Benjamín; Enid Román & her husband Vidal & all of his many nieces & nephews. In addition to Carlos’ immediate family, he was also survived by three stepchildren, Michelle Flores, Israel Flores , Victoria Quiñones& their extended families. 

Carlos was an avid sports watcher, especially the Eagles, Phillies, and UFC. In his spare time the happiest times were always spent with family enjoying the exquisite meals, the warmtaste of home, reminiscing about the good old days, being back home in his “hamaca”, alongside of his radio blaring to the “oldies”. He enjoyed long conversations with family and friends, long extended naps on the sofa, but always extended a helping hand and encouraging words to his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Juan Bautista Catholic Church, 425 S Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM. A viewing will be held prior to the service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Puerto Rico. Carlos Luis Colón Huertas, de 76 años de edad, residente de Lancaster PA; falleció pacíficamente el día 25 de diciembre de 2024 en el Hospital Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health junto con su amorosa familia. Era el amado esposo de María Colón (Martínez Burgos). 

Nació el día 4 de noviembre de 1948 en el pueblo de Jayuya, Puerto Rico. Fueron sus padres Miguel Colón Otero y María Herminia Huertas Rodríguez, (Q.E.P.D).

Además de su esposa María, le sobreviven sus tres hijos: Carlos Alberto Colón y su esposa Mara, Eddie Luis Colón y su esposa Gloria, Crystle Lynn Ortiz y su esposo Steve. Además le sobreviven sus seis nietos, Edgar, Paola, Jason, Veronica, Christina y Edrick. Así como también sus dos bisnietas, Paulette y Paula. Además de sus padres, fué precedido por sus dos hermanos, Fabián González e Iris Medina. También le sobreviven sus hermanos Ángel Colón y su esposa Carmen, Margarita Colón Huertas y su esposo José, Migdalia Sánchez y su esposo Benjamín, Enid Román y su esposo Vidal y todas sus sobrinas y sobrinos. Adicional a la familia de Carlos, también le sobreviven sus tres hijastros, Michelle, Israel, Victoria y sus familias extensas.

Carlos era un ávido observador de deportes, especialmente de los Eagles, Phillies y UFC. Ensu tiempo libre, los momentos más felices siempre los pasaba con su familia más cercana disfrutando de las exquisitas comidas, el calor del hogar, recordando los buenos y viejos tiempos, disfrutando el paisaje y la brisa cálida en su "hamaca", junto a la radio escuchando la música del ayer. Disfrutaba de largas conversaciones con familiares y amigos, largas siestas en el sofá, pero siempre extendió su mano para ayudar en los momentos de necesidad a su familia y allegados.
