Carolyn G. Keen, 93, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the home of her daughter. Born in Greensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Wallace B. and Mary Reist Greider. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Keen who died
in 1994. Carolyn was a 1938 graduate of Temple University with a degree in business education. She was employed as a teacher
for East Hempfield High School, in addition to serving in a managing secretarial position with Armstrong Cork Company during World War II. She was a member of Willow Street United Church of Christ and was active with numerous committees and church functions including a summer day camp, Mission Committee, Sunday School, Consistory, and Youth Fellowship. She was president of Church
Women United in Lancaster and active in the American Field Service Chapter at Lampeter-Strasburg High School for many years. She was an avid reader throughout her life; and she enjoyed traveling, especially her 2006 trip to England to visit her exchange student daughter, Jill Steeley Elliott, and her family. Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Frances Keen of Lancaster; 2 sons, Arthur, husband of Rosemarie Keen, and R. Martin, husband of Carol B. Keen, both of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren, James and Thomas Elsasser, and Kyle and Adam Keen. Funeral services will be held from the Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow
Street, PA 17584 on Saturday, October 9th, at 11 AM, with interment following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM at the church on Saturday.
