Charlene S. Thompson

Charlene Scheid (Reese) Thompson, 62, of Mount Joy, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 24, 2014, after a one year battle with leukemia. Born on August 29, 1952, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Mary Elizabeth (Buckwalter) Reese, of Lancaster. She was married to the late Edward S. Thompson III, for 17 years.

After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1970, she received her Associates degree from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. She was an employee at Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13 for the last six years.

Having previously resided in Orlando, FL, for 25 years, she became an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. She also enjoyed NASCAR races, sewing, fishing and the Florida weather. She loved dogs, having a special affinity for Boxers.

She is survived by two sisters, Carol Ann, wife of James Feister, of Lancaster, PA and Mary (Fran), wife of Clark W. Colby, of North Huntingdon, PA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Thompson III, who passed away in 2005.

Charlene will be greatly missed by her family and friends and pet beagle, Daisy.

The family would like to thank all of her friends from IU 13 for their generous expressions of support.

A viewing will be held at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA, 17602 on Friday, November 28, 2014, from 10:00 AM to noon. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, Charlene wished that contributions in her memory be made in the form of donating blood to the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Blood Donor Center, 35 Hope Dr., Room 101, Hershey, PA, 17033.
