Charles (Chuck) L. Sload, 91, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Luthercare in Lititz Pa. He was the only child of the late Charles L. and Edith (Brubaker) Sload. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Betsy Ann (Landis) Sload.
Upon graduation from J.P. McCaskey High School, Chuck started a career in display and design building that spanned almost 40 years. He retired from Armstrong after 20 years.
Chuck achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, followed by many years of volunteering with local Boy Scout troops. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, as well as serving on various committees at First United Methodist Church, where he was a lifetime member.
His interests included many bridge and pinochle clubs, most notably the BBSS’ers, (Bares, Boyers, Snyders & Sloads.) They enjoyed decades of friendship.
In addition to his wife, Chuck is survived by three children: Rebecca Sload, wife of Giora Davidovits of Andover, MA; Walt Sload, husband of Susan of Lancaster; and Leslie, wife of Ronald Lee of Lancaster. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great – grandchild.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in First United Methodist Church, corner of Duke and Walnut Streets, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
