Charles Leslie Whealton “Les”, age 86 of Little Egg Harbor NJ, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday morning June 9, 2017. Born in Chincoteague VA , February 5, 1931 to his parents the late Eba C. and Lottie Fisher Whealton. Les was employed by Atlantic City Electric Company for 33 years and retired in 1989 from the buried line distribution division. His organizations include Master Mason Tuckerton Lodge #4 F. & A.M., Past Sachem Improved Order of the Redmen Tuckerton Lodge #61, Seaport Founders Club of the Barnegat Bay Decoy & Baymens Museum, Sons of the American Revolution, Tuckerton Historical Society, Tuckerton Old Home Society, and a Lifemember of the Chincoteague Oyster & Maritime Museum. Les was a graduate of Tuckerton High School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a member of the 86th. Bomb Squadron during the Korean War. Les enjoyed most music and reading, but his favorite hobby was searching his Whealton family tree and its associated line.
Les is survived by his wife of 63 years the former Shirley J. nee Burd married at the 1st. United Methodist Church in Tuckerton in 1953. His children C. Keith (Kimberly) Whealton of Little Egg Harbor NJ, Kevin C. (Patricia) Whealton of Aynor SC, and Karen E. (Randy) Bryant of Manahawkin NJ, also 6 grandchildren Jason, Ross, Dawn, Amy, Joshua and Jillian, 6 great grandchildren, step grandchildren Michael, Jason, Holly, BreAnn and Brittany and 10 step great grandchildren, and his special niece Vallie Davis as well as other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Eugene, Gerald, Ann and Sylvia.
In keeping with his wishes a private interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery Tuckerton NJ under the direction of Brian L. Maxwell NJ Lic.#3834 with the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster PA 17602.
