The Rev. Charles H. Lisse

The Rev. Charles H. Lisse, age 81 retired pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Lancaster passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. He was born September 7, 1942 in Harrisburg PA son of the late Wilhelm (William) Gottlieb Jacob Lisse and Alice Margaret Sharp Lisse.

Rev. Lisse was the former pastor at Christ Lutheran Church in Lancaster a position he held from 1981 until his retirement in 2008. He is a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lancaster City.

Rev. Lisse had served as assistant pastor at St. John's in Albany NY, St. John's in Cumberland MD, and as senior pastor at St. Paul/St. Luke in Brooklyn NY, then Christ Lutheran in Lancaster. He graduated from Gettysburg Theological Seminary in 1969. Rev. Lisse was ordained at a gathering of the Central Pennsylvania Synod of the Lutheran Church in America in Selinsgrove PA on June 12, 1969.He also served as the secretary of the Lancaster Conference from 1998 until 2004.

He is survived by his wife Shelley Anne Keene Lisse, his children, Marc, Lyons CO, Monica wife of Mark Tice, Dagsboro DE and Matthew of Lancaster, his grandchildren; Alaina and Brady Tice both Dagsboro DE and Claire and Julia Lisse, Lyons CO.

Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to a visitation, Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 10 am until the service at 11 am at Grace Lutheran Church 517 N. Queen St. Lancaster PA 17603. Burial will follow at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery Lancaster PA. and under the direction of DeBord Snyder Funeral Home 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster PA 17602.
