Charmaine A. Hildebrand, 71, of Lancaster, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care surrounded by family and friends. She was the loving wife of Glenn R. Hildebrand.
Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late Thomas Sr. and Alice (Riker) Marion. Charmaine’s biological father, William Riker, was killed in Normandy when she was a toddler.
Charmaine was a devoted homemaker for most of her life, focusing on caring for her family. She graduated from Emile’s Hairdressing Academy and practiced as a hairdresser for a number of years, both in salons and in her home. She was a

School teacher and was employed by the IU13 as a teacher’s aide and a bus driver for 8 years. She loved antiques and along with her husband she bought and sold antiques for 20 years.
Charmaine loved her family and cats more than anything. She also enjoyed taking trips and traveled quite a bit riding on the back of her husband’s Honda Gold Wing. Other hobbies included camping and curling up with a good book. She enjoyed her flowers and took pleasure in the birds, butterflies, dragonflies and hummingbirds around her home. Charmaine liked music and was a great dancer. She especially loved listening and dancing to her brothers band. Another favorite activity was gathering with her family for an afternoon crab feast.
One of her favorite memories was celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary in Puerto Rico with her family. Charmaine loved spending time with her grandchildren who lit up her life and will truly miss her as we all will!
In addition to her husband Glenn, she is survived by her daughters; Audra Lapp (partner of Tonya Evans) and her daughters Courtney and Brittany; Glennda Hart (wife of George) and their sons Corey and Cody; and Rhonda Gower (wife of Steven) and her daughter Tiffany; brother Tom Marion Jr. (wife of Diane) and his son Tony Marion (husband of Danielle).
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on
Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 11:00 am
. Friends may greet the family from
10:00 am
until the time of the service. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
