Clair M. Ressler

Clair M. Ressler, 74, a resident of Calvary Fellowship Homes, was called to his  eternal home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 24, 2011.

Clair  was married 54 years to Betty L. Millhouse Ressler. Born in West Lampeter Twp.,  he was the son of the late Clair R. and Martha Zimmerman Martin  Ressler.

Clair began his working career by managing F.W. Woolworth Stores  in Pennsylvania and Maryland for seven years. He then worked for 23 years at AH  Hoffman Inc., where he advanced to Vice President of Sales. Following his time  at Hoffman’s, he worked for two years at Kingsway Realty. He then spent the rest  of his working career as Vice President of Sales at Novelty Manufacturing,  before retiring in 1999.

Clair was a 1953 graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg  High School. He was a member of the Central Manor Church of God. Over the years,  Clair served on the Advisory Council for the Churches of God, served on the  Board of Directors for Calvary Homes, and Gideons International, Lancaster South  Camp. Clair was also Board Member of the Winebrenner Seminary in Findley, OH,  Eastern Conference, and a Board Member for the Hempfield School  District.

Clair had a passion for music, and he made his tenor voice  heard in operettas in high school, the church choir, several quartets, and in  solo roles. He enjoyed landscaping and gardening, and traveling in the U.S.,  Canada, and Europe.

Surviving besides his wife are three daughters:  Brenda S. wife of Donald Shank of Harrisonburg, VA; Beth A. wife of Joseph  Farnish of Landisville; and Beverly L. wife of Steven Cox of Mountville; a son:  C. Steven husband of Kelly Ressler of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and four  sisters: Rhoda, wife of Benjamin Landis of Strasburg; Martha, wife of Mervin  Forry of Lancaster; Ruth, wife of Mervin Hoober of New Holland; and Norma, wife  of James Bowman of Washington Boro. He was preceded in death by a brother,  Gerald Ressler, by twin elder sisters, Thelma Mylin and Elma Ament, and by a  sister, Miriam Landis.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday,  January 29, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Central Manor Church of God, 387 Penn St.,  Washington Boro, PA, with the Rev. Stan Maughan, Rev. Wayne Boyer, and Rev.  David Draper officiating. The viewing will be held at the church on Friday  evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be no viewing at the church on  Saturday; however, the family will greet friends following the service. The  interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the  Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. A Memorial Service will also be held at Calvary  Fellowship Homes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his  memory may be made to the Central Manor Church of God, Calvary Fellowship Homes,  the Winebrenner Seminary, Gideons International, and Hospice of Lancaster  County.  Arrangements by the Richard A.
