Cynthia B. Stouffer, age 76, died on August 13, 2017 at Willow Valley Arbor View. A lifelong, devout Catholic, she was born November 13, 1940 in Manila, Philippines, daughter of the late Teodulo and Felicidad (Tiongco) Bautista and sister of the late Soledad and brother Renato Bautista. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, E. Marvin Stouffer, and brothers Fernando and Ramon Bautista.
Cynthia earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Santo Tomos and an MS of Mathematics from Ateneo University, in Manila. She taught high school physics in Manila before emigrating to the USA in 1976. Recipient of a NIOSH Fellowship, she earned an MS in Industrial Hygiene from University of Southern California. She held various safety, health and environmental positions during a 26-year DuPont Co. career in Towanda, PA and Wilmington, DE.
Cynthia’s passion was planning in detail and visiting a great variety of destinations worldwide with husband, Marvin. To best serve this interest, she earned a certified travel agent designation. Teaching seniors how to identify and report Medicare fraud and abuse as a volunteer for Delaware and Pennsylvania Senior Medicare Patrol, and recruiting knitters to help bring Christmas joy to sailors at the Port of Wilmington Seamen’s Center were two of her other long-time interests.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice in Cynthia’s memory.
