Daniel Hinson, a devoted husband and father, died peacefully on February 18, 2013 at the age of 77. Mr. Hinson was born in Yonkers, New York, and grew up in the New Jersey towns of Bound Brook and Tenafly. He attended the University of Iowa where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. After one year at the Cedar Rapids Gazette, he moved on to begin a 37-year career at The Wall Street Journal. He started as a copy editor and held editing and news production positions in New York, Cleveland, and White Oak, Maryland. Dan moved back to New Jersey when he became the national news production manager. He held several more management positions and traveled to Hong Kong and Brussels to create and establish the Asian and European editions of the Journal. Dan was an assistant managing editor when he retired in 1997.
Before moving to Willow Valley in 2007, Dan lived in Florham Park, New Jersey for 40 years. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, holding positions as treasurer and church council member. He also volunteered at the local soup kitchen and at the Florham Park Public Library. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Willow Street, PA.
In his spare time, Dan enjoyed baseball, history and traveling. He also liked to read, garden, play tennis, run, and collect antiques, particularly Toby mugs. He enjoyed sharing his great knowledge and passion for wine with others. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Son of the late Spencer and Mary Hinson, Dan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy
Hinson (nee Reagan); his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Hinson; his daughter Karen Hinson;
his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Douglas Parkins; six grandchildren, Adam, Taylor,
James, Matthew, Sarah and Benjamin; and a cousin, Alice Hoffmann.
A Visitation with Judy and the family will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Daniel “Dan” Hinson will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church; 600 East Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA.
