Daniel Mark Smith, a life-long resident of Lancaster County, died of a pulmonary embolism on October 15, 2024, in Quito, Ecuador, while visiting his in-laws. He was the youngest child of Harry Calvin Smith (deceased) and Fredericka Leinbach Smith of Homestead Village. Daniel is survived by his wife of 27 years, the former Ingrid Mabel Mora of El Guabo, El Oro, Ecuador.
The couple resided in the city of Lancaster for nearly 30 years. He was born on March 15, 1968, in Lancaster General Hospital. A native of Holtwood, PA. Daniel graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1987 and from Misericordia University in 1992. In September 1997 he was married at the New Life Baptist Church in Lancaster. He had a strongly held faith and was a current member of Calvary Church in Lancaster. Daniel held a commercial truck driver's license and worked as a short-haul truck driver for several local companies, most recently Penske. In his free time, he liked to go hiking and on road trips with his wife. He also volunteered for Blessings of Hope meal deliveries.
In addition to his wife and mother, Daniel is survived by his daughters, Cristina Natalie Smith (25) and Gabriella Marie Smith (23), both of Lancaster, and his older sisters, Rebecca F. Smith-Kevern of Gilbert, AZ, and Rachel H. May of Dumfries, VA. He was preceded in death by his brother, Capt. David M. Smith (USN).
Family and friends are respectfully invited to A Celebration of Life, which will be held on Friday, November 22 at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster PA 17601 beginning with a social hour at 4 pm and service at 5 pm.
