David Albert Hewitt, 70 of Parkertown, Ocean County NJ went to be with Jesus in Heaven on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 after a long hard battle.
Dave was born on March 11, 1947 to Carl Edgar and Mary Olivia (Pharo) Hewitt. He grew up in Tuckerton and has lived in Parkertown since 1971. Dave attended Tuckerton Elementary School and graduated from Southern Regional High School in 1965.
He served in the Marine Corp from 1965-1969 including 13 months in Viet Nam. After service he returned to Tuckerton and on January 10, 1971 married Sandra Kann.
Throughout his life he was employed by Tuckerton Fish Factory, Acme Markets, ShopRite, Tuckerton Lumber, Cranmer Lumber and lastly in lumber sales at Woodhaven Lumber.
Dave was an avid Sixers and Phillies Fan. He coached and served as President of the Bayshore Athletic Association. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a trustee, adult Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader. He was passionate about defending the truth of the Bible and wrote many articles about theology and contemporary church issues. He wanted people to know the truth about Jesus Christ and the free gift of salvation which is offered to all.
Dave was predeceased by his parents and his sister Carol Jean Driscoll. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sandy, his children David Hewitt (LeAnn) of Tuckerton, and Carol-Beth Hewitt of Lawrenceville NJ, his sisters Barbara Mattero of Parkertown, Diane Sheridan (Keith) of Naples FL, and his brother Bob Hewitt (Lizzy) of Tuckerton, and six grandchildren, Olivia, Bella, Alexandra, Emily, Leo and Ivy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his Memorial Service on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church 850 Railroad Ave. Little Egg Harbor NJ 08087 where a visitation with the family will begin at 2 p.m.
