David M. Hennigan

David M. Hennigan, 75, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Molly (Rettinger) Hennigan.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys (Mickey) Hennigan.

He proudly served in the Unites States Army from 1958-1962. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Lynchburg College.

Dave enjoyed a career in journalism that would span more than 40 years. He retired in 2005 as Editor of the Lancaster

News.

In his spare time, he enjoyed running, golf and spending time with family, especially annual beach vacations.

He was a member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster, Pirates, Groundhog Lodge, Hamilton Club, Conestoga Country Club, and a former Board member of Power Packs Project.

In addition to his wife Molly, he is survived by three children, Beth Hennigan of Reading, PA, Dave Hennigan, his wife, Mandi, of Greenville, SC, and Lisa Hennigan of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Nikki, Justin, Alex, Reed, Zach, and Ben. Also surviving is his brother Pete Hennigan, his wife, Karen; and sister Barbara Dallara and her husband, Keith.

Relatives & friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Historic St. Mary’s Church, 119 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603 on

with the Rev. Leo M. Goodman officiating. There will be a viewing

Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM

at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602. Private burial will follow. In

lieu of flowers contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Power Packs Project, 1006 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601.
