Dawn L. Dougherty, 77, of Woodcrest Villas, Lancaster, died Saturday, July 15

th

of surgical complications while surrounded by her family.  She was a graduate of the Empire School of Beauty launching a 57-year career as a cosmetologist originating with The Florentine Beauty Salon before owning and operating the Crowning Glory Beauty Salon for over 50 years.

Being a charter member of the Church of the Apostles, she was very active in church service co-chairing the holiday and seasonal church decorations, leading the annual church garage sale, participating in the church’s crafts bizarre, working in the church’s food garden production and sales, the Apostles food bank, teaching Daily Vacation Bible School and ushering.

Dawn belonged to her card club of longtime school friends, the weekly Woodcrest domino competition and the Romarin Rebels social activities group.  She loved to travel and enjoyed family vacations, Caribbean resorts, cruises, joining her husband at convention sites and the 27 years in their Ocean City, Maryland condo.  She also took tremendous pride and pleasure in supporting and attending the recitals, concerts and sports activities of her grand and great grandchildren.

The Dougherty’s celebrated 51 years of marriage last year and Dawn is survived by her husband, Jim; son Steve Dougherty and wife Mary Jane of East Petersburg; daughter Kim Kosky, Lititz; Bill Dougherty and wife Tina of Mount Gretna and Deni Hostetter and husband, Todd, of Lancaster along with seven grandchildren, Rob & Matt Dougherty, Bethany Jenks, Jared Kosky, Kelli Kensinger, Jamie Dougherty and Max Hostetter and five great grandchildren, Gavin & Logan Dougherty, J. J. and Jax Kosky and Sophia Jenks.  Her brother, Bob Brimmer of Lancaster also survives her.  She was pre-deceased by her parents, Jere and Jane Brimmer, Lancaster.

A viewing and memorial service for Dawn will be held at the Church of the Apostles, 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, 17603, on Saturday, July 29

th

at 11:30 am with the family receiving guests from 9:30 am. Interment in the church Memorial Garden will be at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of the Apostles in Dawn’s name.
