Dean C. Herr, 82, of Lancaster went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Born in Bausman PA, he was the son of the late A. Clyde and Helen Herr, and husband of H. Eileen Herr. Dean and Eileen would have celebrated their 62nd anniversary on May 31st.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Scott, husband of LuAnn, James, husband of Linda, and David, husband of Gwendolyn, two daughters, Bonnie, wife of Robert Horning and Jodie, wife of Lance Eckert, and 28 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Enterline and Dawn Kissinger, and was preceded in death by a brother, the late Dale Herr.
Dean retired from C.Y. Tanger & Son of Rohrerstown, after 40 years in sales. Dean was an avid baseball pitcher with East Petersburg, known as “Dizzy Dean” in his youth and then took to playing tennis in his later years. Dean also enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing with friends, and telling the associated stories that fishermen have. Dean was a Member of Calvary Independent Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, and as Deacon and Elder, and he was also active in the Bill Glass Prison Ministry for several years.
Interment will be at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A praise service will be held in Fellowship Hall at Calvary Fellowship Homes at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 26, 2015.
