Delores Irene (McNeal)Mawson, born May 26, 1942, died Sept 04, 2024, at the Willow Valley Glen Healthcare Facility after a short debilitating illness with an unknown mass in the brain. She was predeceased by her mother Kathryn Imgrund in 1949, her father Frank Allan McNeal in 1995, and her brother Donald Ray McNeal, in 1996. She is survived by her older sister Collette Lehman, younger sister Dorothy Ann (Dolly) Copperberg. She is also survived by half siblings, born to the second marriage of her father to Kathryn Browning. These are Frank McNeal Jr. Caroline Sue Landis, Lana Vena and Judy Lichty.

Other surviving family members are Theodore Lehman Jr, Gail Beers, Karen Borgsmiller, Amy Mackey, Douglas McNeal, Jennifer Copperberg, Rebecca Copperberg, Kimberly Copperberg, Lauren Stoppazzolla, Mathew McNeal, Kevin Vena, Stephanie Waydo, Zack Vena and Katie Baumgart. Each person often having a spouse and their own children. 

Dori graduated Shanksville Stonycreek High School in the class of 1960. She gained a BS in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and started her career in education in Princes Georges County and Montgomery County in MD, Fort Lee VA and Monmouth County NJ. Gaining an MS in Reading and an MS in Library Sciences, she excelled in junior and middle school positions. Later taking more responsible administrative positions in curriculum design and staff development.

Along this career path she married (1967) Bruce Mawson a recent immigrant from the UK with an Honors Degree in Physics. Together they made homes in Rockville and Gaithersburg MD, Newport News VA, Freehold NJ and in Willow Valley Communities PA. In Willow Valley Communities, a continuing care facility, they made many friends, both residents and staff. Dori enjoyed the Ukulele group entertaining residents especially in the Healthcare facilities. Dori and Bruce vacationed throughout the world on all continents.

On September 4 th , 2024, she died after a short illness. DeBord Snyder Funeral Home provided the cremation arrangements. There will be no funeral, and a Commemoration of Life is expected.
