Dolores R. Eckert, 84, of Lancaster, died Saturday, August 24, 2013.
She was married 62 years to G. Allen Eckert. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Rineer DeMara.
Dolores was a bank teller for 30 years retiring from Mellon Bank. She graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School in 1947 where she had been involved in cheerleading. She was a Democratic Committee woman for Lancaster Township and an active member of the Women’s Class of 47 from McCaskey. Her interests included watching tennis, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family. It is said of Dolores that she had very few acquaintances because she became a friend of everyone she met.
Surviving besides her husband is a son, Lee A. husband of Tammy Eckert of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Eric husband of Lisa Eckert, Patrick Eckert, Austin Eckert and Lee Eckert, Jr.; and two great grandchildren Bradyn and Emma Eckert.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster, 538 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Anne Mason officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
