Donald E Campbell, 94, of 1001 E. Oregon Rd, Lititz formerly of Willow Street, passed away on August 29, 2024 at Landis Homes, Lititz. He was the husband of the late Arlene K. Campbell and they had been married for 60 years at her passing. 

Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Zeno D. and Eleanor Agar Campbell. Donald started his education in a one-room school for eight years with the same teacher and was a graduate of Quakertown High School Class of 1948, Elizabethtown College (BS Ed) and Temple University (M). He started his long educational career at Solanco School District where he was a business education teacher and class advisor. He then taught business at Octorara and Coatesville School Districts. Lastly, he became Lampeter-Strasburg School District’s first business manager. He was with the district for 30 years. When he retired, he was recognized with a school board proclamation. In addition, the new administration building was dedicated to him and the building plaque states, “He had the ability to perceive the needs of the school district and the courage to see that they were accomplished.”

He was an associate member of Faith United Methodist Church and served as an usher and chairperson of the expansion committee; he was also a member of Boehms United Methodist Church. Formerly a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lancaster, he served as a teacher of the Couples Class for 30 years and served on many committees. Service to the community was important to him. He was a life-time member (67 years) of Willow Street Lions Club and was honored as Lion of the Year, Key Member, and Melvin Jones Fellow; served on the West Lampeter Planning Commission and was Judge of Elections for West Lampeter- Locust. He cherished his time with family particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he also enjoyed watching sports.

Surviving is a son, Gary D. married to Cyndi (Charles) Campbell, Lancaster, a daughter, Carol C. married to Richard L. Kelsall, Lancaster, granddaughter Rebecca Elisabeth (Kelsall) married to Earl  Derrick Sprout, grandsons Jason Richard Kelsall, and Patrick Donald Campbell, great-granddaughter Alyssa Arlene Sprout, and great-grandson Earl Derrick Sprout, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, grandson, Ian Andrew Campbell, brothers Forrest Campbell and Ray Campbell, and sisters Ethel Bleam and Marjorie Kooker.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 14 at Faith United Methodist Church, 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, PA 17543  at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jason Perkowski officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be a private interment in the Boehms United Methodist Church Cemetery.
