Donald E Nolt

Donald E Nolt joined the bass section of the Heavenly Choir on Thursday, August 18, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Born January 15, 1927 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Mark S and Virgie Nolt of Landisville. He graduated from the former East Hempfield High School, Class of 1944. He was married to the love of his life, Lois W (Davis) Nolt for nearly 68 years.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Bonnie J of Mountville, Rev. Douglas E (wife Judy Adams Nolt) of Indian Head, PA, and Wanda S of Baltimore, MD. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kim L Miller (husband Samuel I Miller) of Lancaster. Donald doted on his grandchildren: Daniel (Lauren) of Wooster OH, Jacob (Stacey) of Hicksville OH, Ben of Indian Head PA, Leah Miller, Rosetta Miller, and Hope Miller, all of Lancaster PA.  He is also survived by a sister, Sara, married to J Stephen Harper of Durham NC. A brother, Mark S, preceded him in death in 2013.

Donald retired from Fulton Bank 1989 after 35 years of service.  Upon retirement, he and Lois enjoyed traveling.  He spent many hours making bed pads for the local Cancer Society.  One of his many joys was using scraps of donated material to make over 850 quilted lap robes which were donated to many area nursing homes and retirement facilities.

He was an active church volunteer, serving as treasurer for many years, singing in the choir, men’s quartet, and serving on the church council. Until his illness, he was in regular attendance at Lancaster Church of the Brethren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:30 PM at Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA, 17601,  with the Rev. J.
