Donald A. Stern
Donald A. Stern, 84, of New Providence, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his home.
He was the husband of the late Margaret Jones Stern who died in 1989. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl and Ida Morris Stern.
Donald retired from the Theodore Schwalm Watch Dial Co. after more than 30 years of employment. Prior to that he had been employed at Hamilton Watch. Donald was a veteran having served in both the U.S. Amy and the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the VFW in Millersville and the Retreads Motorcycle Club. He was mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on anything that need repaired and riding his motorcycles.
Surviving is a longtime companion, Ann Payton ; a son, Wayne D. Stern both of New Providence; and a sister Helen wife of Gerald Foultz of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by brothers Bill and Norm Stern.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Linford D. King officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park with full Military Honors.. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638.
