Donn C. Herr

Donn “DC” Herr of Lititz, PA, passed away after a short illness on July 15, 2024 at Maple Farm Nursing Center.

Born October 10, 1946 in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Loretta Jean and Charles V. Herr, Jr. He was the husband of Debra (Buzby) Herr with whom he would have celebrated forty-four years of marriage in September.

Donn Graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School and briefly attended York College, then graduated from Elizabethtown College with a degree in history. He served in the U.S. Army during 1967-1969 as a coding clerk in Germany and received Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals.

Donn was employed by First Federal Savings & Loan, a predecessor of Santander Bank. He was a real estate appraiser for Santander until his retirement in 2015 after thirty-eight years of employment.

Donn enjoyed photography and traveling; camping at Watkins Glen for Formula 1 races and traveling to Montreal. There were trips to many tropical destinations as well and many cruises. Lots of time spent “down the shore” at 1621 Ocean City, New Jersey relaxing (and working sometimes too). He enjoyed the outdoors and there was always a friendly competition of wins at miniature golf each year.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Debra of Lititz, PA, Donn is survived by his sister, JoAnne (Herr) Kirchner (Valentine) of Lititz, PA, nieces Jessica (Kirchner) Lucas (Christopher) of Pittsburgh, PA and Lori Kirchner of Lititz, PA as well as  great nephew Brandon Lucas of Pittsburgh, PA. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11:30 AM. The family will greet guests at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Maple Farm Nursing Center for the wonderful care they gave to Donn and his family.
