Doris Arlene Hoover

Doris Arlene Hoover, 87, of Lancaster, entered into the presence of our Lord on October 28, 2016.

She was the wife of the late J. R. Hoover who died in 1984. Born in Drumore Twp., she was the daughter of the late Willard and Dorothy McCauley.

Doris began working fresh out of high school at Hamilton Watch and retired from Bulova Technologies in 1993.  She was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Lancaster.

She lived a wonderful life, full of family and friends.  She delighted in the simple pleasures, such as family gatherings and holiday celebrations.  Among her favorite things were camping with family, and having a long, leisurely breakfast with relatives and her friends, Mary Hogg and Mary Winters. She enjoyed taking bus trips, taking a drive down a long country road or just having a cup of coffee with her brother.  Over the years she had enjoyed the company of her pets.  She will be sadly missed by her family.

Surviving are three children, Linda Root wife of Earl Elsen, Leslie wife of David Hartsough, and Roger husband of Beverly Hoover; six grandchildren, Jennifer Russell, Jill Root, Matthew Hartsough, Meghan Brown, Brandy Stoltzfus, and Ashley Steinbaecher; two step grandsons, Jeff and Kurt Hoover, three step granddaughters, Kerrie Torres Abby Young and Sara Beth Shoff;  ten great grandchildren, Jordan and Madi Russell, Caleb and Ava Hutchinson, Tanner and Lucy Brown, Karter Hartsough, Zoey and Lux Stoltzfus and Lincoln Steinbaecher; twelve step great grandchildren, Hannah, Suzannah and Simeon Hoover, Madeline, Jalesa, Mariah, and Robert Gonzalez, Caden, Calie and Camryn Young and Ella and Will Shoff; and by a brother Vernon McCauley.   She was preceded in death by a brother Bob McCauley, by a step-son Gordon Hoover, by a grandson-in-law Todd Russell and by a grandson Bryan Hoover.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 151 Donerville Road, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. David A. Thomann officiating.  Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.  Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster, PA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Hoover’s memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA  17604-4125, to St. Anne’s Home, 3952 Columbia Ave, Columbia., PA 17512 or to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.
