Doris M. Hoffman
Doris M. Hoffman, 97, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Camden, NJ, she was the daughter of the late James and K. May Nichols Bower.
Doris graduated from Collingswood High School in New Jersey. She took a business course at the Pierce Business School. She worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad for 16 years, where she qualified to be a traveling auditor. She also worked in communications at the University of Delaware
She was married to Earl Hoffman in 1947 and was married for 43 years.
Doris taught Kindergarten Sunday School for 18 years in 3 different states. She sang in the High School Glee Club, in many church choirs, and sang for two summers for choral concerts at University of Pennsylvania. She also sang several concerts at the University of Delaware and F&M, with symphonies in 3 states, New Castle Choral Society, Northern Delaware Oratorio Society, Delaware Valley Chorus, Cantata Choir at Christ Church in Greenville, Harrisburg Choral Society, Willow Valley Manor Vesper Choir for 18 years, Cozzoli Choral (now Lancaster Chorale), and 9 church choirs.
She was a volunteer and visitor in the Glen, Arbor View, and Lakeside at Willow Valley Communities.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Johnson Auditorium at Willow Valley North, 600 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA. Friends may greet the family following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
