Dorothy C. Heinzelman age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012 after a long, happy, and satisfying life. Born on January 12, 1916 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Effie and J. Weir Coover. Pre-deceased by her parents and two sisters, and in 1993, by her loving husband of 56 years, Earl Heinzelman. Dottie lived in Lancaster since 1937. She is survived by 3 children and their spouses: David and Columba Heinzelman of Rochester, NY, Richard and Claire Heinzelman of Palo Alto, CA., and Susan and Skip Ladnier of Atlanta, GA; 6 grandchildren: Stephen (Wendi) Heinzelman, Catherine (Mark) Hill, Jessica Heinzelman, Jake Heinzelman, Niki (Keith) Killian, and Eric Ladnier; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 cousins.
Dottie’s family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff and residents of Homestead Village for the loving care, friendship, and emotional support given to her.
A Memorial Service celebrating Dorothy’s life will held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, March 7, at Homestead Village Retirement Community where she lived. Her family will welcome friends before the service from 1:30-2:30 PM, and also after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homestead Village, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, PA 17603, or to your favorite charity.
