Dorothy J. Moffett
Dorothy J. Moffett, 94, of Lancaster, PA, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and the wonderful nurses at Oak Leaf Manor and Hospice & Community Care.
Born in Lancaster on November 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Abbie (Waller) Peters.
Dorothy graduated from J.P. McCaskey in the class of 1939. Later on in life, she worked for EH Gochnauer and Sons, Inc. as a secretary.
She was a lifetime member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Lancaster. She was a Sunday school teacher in the Pre Beginners Sunday school class for 40 years and a member of Grace Believers Sunday school class.
She is survived by a daughter, Maxine, wife of David Sachs, of Gainesville, VA; a granddaughter, Abigail, wife of Doug Hotchkin, of Herndon, VA; two great granddaughters, Sophie and Ellie Halkett; and a sister, Elizabeth Wingender, of Lancaster, PA.
She was preceded in death by a son, Barry Wayne Moffett, and a sister Erma Asper.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Ammerman officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
