Dorothy Lou Brandt, 84, of Millersville, passed peacefully into God’s embrace on June 2nd, 2012 at Hospice of Lancaster County; with her adoring family and loving husband Matthew C. Brandt Jr. sharing in an attentive vigil of several days.
Dot was born December 17, 1927 in Belle Vernon PA, the second daughter of the late Frank James and (Ethel) Virginia Zundel Lewellyn. She spent her early years living with her family on her grandparents’ farm where she learned to cherish the out-of-doors and animals of every kind. Dot spent her professional career as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in the Washington D.C. area.
Dot treasured her family. She cared deeply about people, and her dogs; and her home was always open for guests. She was an avid reader, loved camping with Matt, and watching birds in her backyard. Dot was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, and part of the Grace United Methodist Church family, in Millersville, for the past 15 years. Dot will be remembered as being spry, fun-loving, young-at-heart, and a friend to all. She was kind, generous, and always there to listen, to laugh, give a hug, or share a glass of iced-tea. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two devoted daughters; Susan, wife of Mike Liebig, of Lancaster, PA, and Sandra Brandt of Lititz, PA; 3 grandchildren, Travis, Kristen, and Virginia; 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and many grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Phyllis Foster.
