Douglas W. Herr, 40, of Leola, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of William F. Jr., and Thelma Hoober Herr of Leola.
He was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, Class of 1988 and attended New Mexico State University. He worked as a senior account manager for the Jay Group. An avid golfer, Doug had caddied at the Lancaster Country Club and was an assistant pro at the Hershey and Reading Country Clubs. He enjoyed playing poker and helped to organize several local tournaments. He was a Phillies and Eagles fan, but he really loved his Flyers.
In addition to his parents, he will be lovingly missed by: his children, Alexander D. and Rachel N. Herr; brother, Michael A. Herr; maternal grandparents, Louis and Miriam Hoober; and fiancée, Rebecca Welch.
A memorial service will be held from St. Peters Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11 am. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11 am at the church on Tuesday. Private interment will be held in Conestoga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Susquehanna Bank, 331 W Main Street, Leola, PA 17540 payable to Alexander D Herr and/or Rachel N. Herr for educational trust fund.
