Dr. J. Richard Brubaker, 86, of Lancaster, was called home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, August 23

, 2014 at his birth place. He was the son of the late John C. and Mary (Harnish) Brubaker. He was the loving husband of Marcella (Wenger) Brubaker, to whom he was happily married for 64 years.
Richard loved spending time outdoors, although his favorite thing to do was spending time with his friends and family.
He was a longtime member of First Church of God in Lancaster, PA.
Richard worked as a self-employed optometrist for 58 years.
He was a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry prior to starting his practice.
Surviving, besides his wife is a son, Geoffrey, husband of Cheryl Brubaker, of Lancaster, and a granddaughter, Ashley J. Brubaker, of Lancaster.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at First Church of God, 344 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA, 17603 with Pastor Don Price officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the “Whenever Needed Fund” of First Church of God, at address listed above.
