E. Kenneth Manning, 85, of St Anne’s Retirement Community, Columbia, formerly from Lancaster, died Tuesday evening August 14th, at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. He was married 65 years to Wanda Daugherty Manning. Born in Highville, Manor Township, he was the son of the late Abram and Ida Kauffman Manning.
Ken was employed by Armstrong for 49 years as an electrical technician. His last job at Armstrong involved finding places for test floor installations and he had contact with many people at area businesses and public buildings. He graduated from Penn Manor High School and the Chicago Technical Institute. In recent years, he worked part-time as a supervisor for the US Census. He was a former President of Mountville Borough and also the Mountville Lions Club. His interests included amateur radio, working around the house and doing projects with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert K Manning, husband of Kathy, Lititz, and Richard J Manning, husband of Nancy, of Lancaster; he was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Beck. He has seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Interment and graveside ceremony will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Millersville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St Anne’s Retirement Community 3952 Columbia Ave. Columbia, PA 17512.
