Earl E. McClune, 82, of Lancaster died Friday, May 15, 2009, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl E. and Elsie Howe McClune. He was married for 62 years to Thelma Frank McClune.
Earl was a graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School. He served as a T5 in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946, and the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1946 to 1950. From 1950 to 1953, he served as a corporal in the Army National Guard, where he was able to serve with his father in the 103rd Battalion.
He worked as a printer and salesman for Fulton Press until he retired. He was also the owner and operator of Remington Press. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church and the Lancaster VFW. He was a member of the West Lancaster Fire Company and the West Lancaster Hunting Camp. He was also past president of Lancaster Cosmopolitan Club, and Past President of the Young Democrats of Lancaster.
Earl had a great sense of humor, and a great love for his family. He was a loving husband and father, and wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather. He knit caps for his grandson Ian, and the Lampeter-Strasburg wres-tling team, and also for his great-grandson, Gage, and the Conestoga Valley wrestling team. He also enjoyed spending time at the cabin, hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, and wood carving.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, David A. husband of June Brubaker McClune, and Michael L. husband of Cynthia Reidenbach McClune; a daughter, Roxane McClune; 4 grandchildren, Shawn, Garth, Ashley, and Ian; 4 great-grandchildren, Gage, Kyleigh, Cassidy, Emmerson Grace; 3 sisters, Thelma Schoenberger, Mary Verna Myers, and Regina Goodman.
